Kathak Darshan School of Dance

Beginner class is meant for anyone who is learning Kathak for the first time. This class gives give students a thorough introduction to the fundamentals of Kathak Dance. Classes are designed for students who are interested in starting their journey of dance. The students will learn the basic techniques of postures, footwork and basic understanding of Taal. Students will also learn how to present gracefully, while developing acute sense of rhythm. Each session allows the student to absorb the intricacies of Kathak at their own pace, making learning both effective and enjoyable. 

For young students, 5 years is minimum age to start learning Kathak. Students should be familiar in class room settings, following instructions and able to focus. Beginner classes for kids combine structure with playfulness to create a fun environment for children to learn classical Kathak dance. Children explore storytelling and Kathak basics, along with clapping rhythms, singing. Prepare for your child to immerse in the graceful movements rhythmic footwork, and explore the expressive power of Abhinaya. Whether you want your kids to understand and appreciate the cultural heritage or perform with elegance and confidence, KDSD classes is your gateway to mastering this beautiful art form.

Students who have been in beginner course and went through the basic training needs covered in beginner class, will progress into intermediate class. Or if someone already had exposure and learning of Kathak elsewhere & demonstrates sufficient grasp of Kathak fundamentals will be a good fit for intermediate class. However, inducting someone into an intermediate class is at the discretion of Guru. Classes are designed for students who have already gained experience for at-least 2 years. For students aspiring to join or progress to intermediate class, one should demonstrate fundamental grasp of basic kathak techniques. In this course, you will learn about the deeper techniques of Kathak.Intermediate classes enable students to progress at their own pace while dancing within a group. Emphasis is placed on development and refinement of Kathak technique, expression, rhythmic skills as well as continued refinement of technics picked up in beginner class.

Advanced classes are meant for the students who have been through years of rigorous training and seniority level of 5-6 years of practicing Kathak. These classes are focused on advanced concepts and skills. These classes are aimed at training professional performers or learners. The students will not only delve deeper into the intricacies of Kathak, but also learn to refine their stage performance skills. Advanced classes demand more from students in terms of energy, effort and commitment. But also it reciprocates equally with exhilaration and sense of contentment and achievement. Students who are aiming to do Rang Manch Pravesh, taking advanced classes are minimum pre-requisite.
